CASA DO MORRO
5 BEDROOMS | TRANCOSO, SOUTHERN BAHIA | R$5,300,000
Casa do Morro is a stunning five-bedroom beach house constructed with local materials and natural fibers, with an emphasis on the outdoors – the ocean views, beach and swimming pool. A short walk down the hill from the house is the beach, which extends for miles in either direction, and the bars and restaurants of the Quadrado are also just a few minutes drive away.
The beautifully-decorated main house has a large open-plan sitting and dining area, fully equipped kitchen, TV room, four ensuite bedrooms, and a spacious, ocean-view outdoor veranda with multiple seating areas running across the entire length of the house.
Main House: Three double bedrooms with air conditioning, private balconies and ensuite bathrooms (one on a lower level), and a further bedroom with two single beds and its own separate bathroom. There is a spacious open-plan sitting and dining area with very large glass doors opening onto the veranda, off of which is a TV area and a fully equipped open-plan kitchen. The wide ocean-view veranda can easily accommodate sofas and tables, and has steps down to the garden.
“Tree House Suite”: There is an additional structure on the property, designed by the same team as the stylish UXUA Hotel, with the fifth ensuite bedroom, a sitting room, and a veranda.
Garden: From the main house there are steps down to the garden where you will find a large, kidney shaped infinity swimming pool (approx. 18m long x 1.2m deep, built-in steps), a wet-bar and a BBQ area with a wood-burning pizza oven. There is also a charming outdoor lounge covered by a bougainvillea-clad pergola, and a separate pavilion slung with hammocks and a pool table that is perfect for an afternoon siesta.
Guest Annex: One further double bedroom with a private bathroom and small kitchen is situated above the double garage.

TRANCOSO, SOUTHERN BAHIA
As well as offering some of the best beaches in the Northeastern Brazil, the village of Trancoso has a very pretty colonial heart, set on a bluff overlooking the ocean. The large, grassy main square known as the Quadrado is surrounded by colorful native houses presided over by a small church, and has dazzling views of the beaches and ocean.
In terms of buying property, Trancoso represents some of the more prime beach property in the country, with beachfront plots achieving extraordinary rates per square meter. This is in large part due to the popularity during peak seasons. Trancoso is a very popular destination over the Brazilian summer, especially during New Year’s Eve when rents spike.
The most popular rental destinations combine stunning beaches or natural beauty with access to refined dining – restaurants offering quality wines and cocktails together with great local cuisine. Access to infrastructure and an airport is also important. Trancoso combines these elements effortlessly.
In the evening everyone heads to the Quadrado to sip caipirinhas and browse the shops and boutiques (including nearly all of the chicest Brazilian designers). The atmosphere is incredibly relaxed - flip-flops, open shirts and kaftans are the order of the day. It has begun to attract a sophisticated and international clientele, who come to experience the authentic flavor of Brazil, enhanced by unpretentious restaurants, quaint hotels and stunning private houses.
