PLATINUM BAY
CAMPINHO ISLAND, PENINSULA OF MARAÚ, BAHIA | LAND: R$600/M2 + BUILDING: R$3,300/M2 + MARINA & LANDING STRIP: R$800,000/UNIT

Platinum Bay is situated on Campinho Island, the Northern tip of the Maraú Peninsula, at the point where the Camamu Bay (the third biggest bay in Brazil) meets the sea. The Maraú Peninsula is located along the Dendê Coast in the State of Bahia, 200 km south of Salvador and 150 km north of Ilhéus.

The nearest airport is in Ilhéus (IOS), and the closest international airport is in Salvador (SSA), which is served by most major international airlines. There are daily flights to Ilhéus from Salvador, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and São Paulo. From either airport, a combination of land and sea must be crossed before arriving at Platinum Bay.

The Maraú Peninsula is a paradise of pristine beaches, fresh water lakes, tropical forests, extensive rivers and beautiful waterfalls. The small nearby fishermen's village of Barra Grande is enriched by a diverse group of people from all across the globe - from Brazilian designers, Italian filmmakers, Swiss architects, to American artists - who came to Maraú to escape the world for just a few days...or weeks. The charming village offers a variety of entertainment options, including many lovely restaurants.

Platinum Bay is the ultimate exclusive resort, made up of 15 villas arranged over 7.8 hectares and set in a peaceful rural location. The development fronts the Camamu Bay.

This exclusive development, complete with private marina and landing strip, offers excellent ocean views and stunning sunsets. 250 meters of total beach frontage helps make it the perfect location to build a dream home.

The development includes:
• Private marina
• Private landing strip
• Oyster bar
• Communal gardens with a central lake
• Porter, security and concierge
• A central administration

Each plot will be sold freehold and will allow the owner to create a villa with a pool and gardens to suit their individual tastes. Prospective buyers can take inspiration from the showcase villa, which has been built as an example. The villas must follow design criteria in keeping with the standard of the development, ensuring unrivaled luxury in the area.

THE SHOWCASE VILLA

The Showcase Villa is a strikingly modern four-bedroom villa completed in 2009. It is of frame construction under a flat roof, with part glazed and part rendered elevations. The waterfront villa offers luxurious accommodations both inside and out. It is decorated with stylish, colorful interiors in every room, and is filled with large sliding glass doors doubling as walls.

There is a spacious open-plan living room and dining room with ocean views, two professional kitchens, and a poolroom with a pool table and comfortable couches opening onto a wide roof terrace that offers incredible sunset views.

There are four large ensuite bedrooms in the house, which accommodates up to eight guests. All of the bedrooms come with private bathrooms, ocean views and air conditioning. The master suite has direct access to the pool, while the other three suites have access to private decks and the tropical garden. Additionally, two of the suites have Jacuzzis.

Outside of the house is a bright blue L-shaped infinity pool and deck with sun loungers, a BBQ and a wood-burning pizza oven. A beautifully landscaped garden leads down to the jetty, and for complete relaxation, there is a “Zen Area” with massage beds and additional areas slung with hammocks. Next to the water, a luau area comes with a fire-pit and a lounge deck, perfect for watching the sunset while sipping cocktails during the evening.

Area Description

CAMPINHO ISLAND, PENINSULA OF MARAÚ, BAHIA

The house is situated on the island of Campinhos, the Northern tip of the Maraú Peninsula, at the point where the Camamu Bay (the third biggest bay in Brazil) meets the sea. The Maraú Peninsula is a paradise of pristine beaches, fresh water lakes, tropical forests, extensive rivers and beautiful waterfalls. The small nearby fishermen's village is enriched by a diverse group of people from all across the globe - from Brazilian designers, Italian filmmakers, Swiss architects, to American artists - who came to Maraú to escape the world for just a few days...or weeks.
The charming village of Barra Grande is nearby and offers a variety of entertainment options, including many lovely restaurants.

In terms of buying, The Maraú Peninsula is fairly difficult to access. Infrastructure is basic with a lot of the roads being dusty tracks and the region is intersected by a great number of rivers and creeks, further compounding transportation issues. This is one of the key reasons why the area has remained unspoiled. Buying a property here will require the best part of a day’s travel from any of the major international Brazilian airports, and therefore it is not somewhere you can pop to for the weekend. It requires more time and planning. However, once you arrive, it is worth every minute of the time it took to get there.

We suspect the Peninsula will increase in popularity, which will have a positive impact on values. This will however, be a long-term plan. In the short term, buying a property here is the ultimate self-indulgence.
