Property Description

Combining incredibly luxurious accommodations with the most jaw-dropping location on a seemingly endless beach, Villa Una is one of the most perfect beach houses we have seen. It is the ideal place for those wanting to completely relax and detox from the stresses and demands of modern-day life, without sacrificing the comforts of modern-day conveniences.

The beachfront property has four suites arranged over three separate buildings – the main house, the master suite bungalow, and the staff house. It is surrounded by tropical Atlantic rainforest rich in wildlife and exotic birds.

The three buildings have been completed in traditional Bahian style – eucalyptus beam frame with part glass and part rendered elevations. The roof is formed of a vaulted piaçava thatch, which in places is double the height.

The main house is entirely surrounded by a spacious ocean-view veranda with outdoor living/dining areas, and features a 12-meter high thatched ceiling. Inside the house there is an open-plan living room, dining room, professional kitchen and three double bedrooms, all with ensuite bathrooms and their own veranda access.

Set 50 meters from the main house is the master suite bungalow, which benefits from beautiful views through the palms to the beach. The bungalow is a single story structure with a large bedroom, sitting room, dressing room and bathroom. There is a spacious beachfront deck with a shower, as well as a vast day bed area shaded by a rustic pergola.

Directly on the beach is a lounge area with an outdoor shower where you can sit back, relax, sip cocktails, and admire the ocean and the palm tree edged beach that stretches uninterrupted for miles. It is a dream destination.

Area Description

This exclusive beachfront property is located near the small town of Una in southern Bahia, and 25 miles south of Ilhéus, which is served by direct daily flights from Salvador and São Paulo. Ilhéus is the hometown of Jorge Amado, the best-known and most popular writer in Brazil, giving the town a bit of distinction.

There is little by way of nearby nightlife, bars or restaurants, but rather beaches, natural beauty, and cultural heritage. Visitors to this part of Bahia will feel a sense of discovery, as it doesn’t feature major tourist routes.

In terms of buying Villa Una, we suspect that the property would retain its value given the quality of construction. Land values and property prices in the area have been steady over the last few years. Locally, values have not seen the surge in prices that has occurred in other parts of Brazil. However, it is interesting to note that land and property values to the south (Santo Andre and Trancoso) and to the north (Itacaré) are both higher, suggesting that this part of the region has some catching up to do.
